Changes to Steamboat Ski Area Might Be On The Horizon
Steamboat is most certainly a ski town so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation is proposing a 10-year master plan that will include new ski lifts and expanding the restaurant facilities. While skier attendance has dropped in the last couple of years, we did see a slight increase in numbers last year.
Having to compete with other ski resorts in Colorado, as well as those in Wyoming, Utah and along the West Coast, it becomes important for our local economy to invest in making the needed changes to stay competitive. Another proposed project here in Steamboat is a new Rough Rider Learning Center. According to Steamboat Today, “Tubing, sledding and other activities are being proposed for the learning center area.”
“It will be just a special place for kids to go,” Ski Corp. President Chris Diamond tells Steamboat Today. “We’re only limited by our imaginations.”
