Mountain Architecture From Around The World

As a multi-faceted architectural design firm based out of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, we always stay abreast of how other mountain homes across the world mix contemporary style with mountain architecture.  And this mountain lodge in Norway really helps get our creative juices flowing. Designed by Fantastic Norway architects, the cabin becomes part of the mountainous landscape.

Fantastic Norway says “The cabin is designed as a landscape element that leads wind and snow around and over the building. One of the client’s initial wishes was to be able to actually go skiing, sledge riding and picnicking on top of the cabin.”

According to Inhabitat, “In order to integrate the roof with the surrounding landscape, Fantastic Norway set the gables at 23 degrees. The eaves are lengthened, creating a smooth and continuous track to ski or sled upon.”

This winter retreat is ideal for skiing enthusiasts. What do you think about this cozy mountain lodge? Would it work here in the Rockies?
