New Museum in Norway Reflects Surrounding Environment

A new museum in Norway is drawing a lot of attention and we can see why. The Sogn & Fjordane Kunstmuseum is a new museum that has been designed to reflect the surrounding environment of the town in which it is located. We are very intrigued by this project and think it is a great way to get inspiration for your next project in Steamboat Springs. Vertical Arts Located in Førde, the Sogn & Fjordane Kunstmuseum has been built to resemble a large block of ice that has found its way down from the mountains that surround the town. In order to accomplish this, the museum has a frosted glass exterior paired with illuminated lines to create the look of ice. Inside the museum, a large blue staircase takes patrons through the space and to each of the exhibitions available. In addition, a screened-in roof terrace is located on the backside of the building and offers views of the surrounding mountains. We think building a museum that pays tribute to the environment surrounding this town is an excellent way to bring architecture and nature together into one. If you are feeling inspired for your own project, Vertical Arts can help. Contact us today for more information regarding all things architecture in Steamboat Springs.
