The existing house on site was a small, 1200 SF, and needed expansion for growing family. By using the utilizing the existing footprint and expanding out towards the river we were able to maximize the existing structure. A detached garage and caretakers unit frames the entry and creates a courtyard-like feel upon entry. The exterior materials of reclaimed snowfence, stone and raw steel give the simple forms a unique natural quality that is simple, but interesting. The small footprint allows for a generous yard that integrates seamlessly into the house with large lift and slide doors.
