New Skyscraper Rises from Rubbish
Most people don't think twice about trash or even the idea of using it to construct a brand-new building. However, this is the approach that is being taken for a new skyscraper that has been designed for the city of São Paulo in Brazil. This innovative and inventive building aims to accomplish a wide variety of tasks while also maintaining a unique exterior. Using pieces of rubbish from the city, this building would be constructed next to the two rivers, Tietê and Pinheiros. In addition to repurposing discarded items to build the structure, this skyscraper goes the extra mile by including recycling centers in the bottom-half of the building. Apartment units for homeless people would also be included in the top-half of the structure. The residents staying in the units would be required to work in the recycling centers and help to repurpose rubbish for other construction necessities or repairs. One of the goals for this building is change the way people think about trash. Instead of simply dumping trash and forgetting about it, the folks behind this project hope people will see how they can begin a sustainable revolution just by changing their relationship with garbage. We love the idea of this project and hope to see it come to life. If you are feeling inspired by this skyscraper for your own project, Vertical Arts can help.
