Located along the wild and winding Yampa river a homestead makes claim. A traditional log style cabin sought a refresh that could turn the corner into modern times. A plan reconfiguration on the main home turned this old-fashioned homestead into the ultimate family retreat and cozy couple getaway from the hustle and bustle of downtown Steamboat Springs. The all-important heritage of the log style architecture was preserved but brought up to speed with new elements of stone, and stain, ultimately coming together to create a wholistic vision that looks as original as the river itself. A traditional rustic style was brought to the interior with an emphasis on warm wood tones, large stone walls, and custom hammered metal finishes. The fabrics and furniture make this space feel cozy while still incorporating fun and playful textures that nod to the western aesthetic. The rustic heritage continues to the exterior spaces, in focus the back patio where a firepit and hot tub sit on the edge and overlook the oasis of the river basin below.
