With an active and outdoorsy lifestyle, these Steamboat Springs residents were thrilled to find a lot adjacent to a popular walking path that leads to the mountains one way and to downtown Steamboat Springs the other way. They hired our full service team to create a simple, modern and eco-friendly home that would revolve around getting outside in all seasons. The striking home features exterior materials that can withstand the harsh mountain elements with a combination of heat-treated wood and metal. The back side of the multi-level home includes low-maintenance board formed concrete walls that surround the covered patio and expansive second level outdoor deck with views of the nearby ski resort. Importantly, the home is designed to be “net zero ready” meaning that once the owners add solar panels, the home will be able to capture the energy it consumes. Our team worked alongside a sustainability consultant to input more insulation, triple paned windows, an aero barrier and more enhanced sustainability measures to make the home net zero ready. With connectivity to the path in mind, the home was designed around ease of use, ultimately allowing the owners to ride their bikes straight out the back door to the trail. And once inside, the connectivity continues. The owners can essentially walk into their bike shop, one of three garage bays, and store all their equipment. They make their way inside to the mudroom to drop off dirty clothes and gear and then can head straight to the primary bathroom. The inside of the home is equally as livable and practical with an open kitchen, living area and dining on the main floor separate from the office, main living suite, mudroom and gear room. Downstairs features three additional bedrooms, with one caretaker suite that has its own kitchenette and private entrance. The interior style has some beachy vibes inspired by the homeowner’s collegiate swimming history. Stay tuned for more details and photos of the interior style soon!
